Yunchi Zhu
Born near Shanghai, China, Yunchi came to United States in 1998 after studying Hospitality management in Switzerland. She pursued her dream of becoming a concierge and became one at the prestigious St. Regis in Washington, D.C. After five years of learning and exploring the greater D.C. area, she developed an interest for physical activities that were foreign to her childhood in Shanghai. However, minor injuries and some misalignment stopped her from enjoying those activities to their fullest. She looked for solutions and tried various pursuits to improve her health and fitness. She studied the curriculum from University of Miami School of Medicine and obtained certification of basic nutrition.
In 2012, Yunchi moved to Albuquerque to study Pilates at Momentum Studio after learning its reputation while in DC. She completed the comprehensive teacher training program with 450+ hours and became a certified trainer. Now a full staff member at Momentum, Yunchi still pursues her own personal practice by continuing to study, take classes and explore all the method has to offer. She is also a trained in the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM ® .
She finds Pilates helps fundamentally in providing strength, control, precision, fluidity of movement and body awareness of other exercises and sports such as Barre, tennis, archery, horseback riding and swimming.
