Trish Porter, current World Record Holder for women’s high jump ages 40-44, has added GYROTONIC ® & Pilates training at Momentum Studio to her training regime both for cross training and injury prevention. Having been on the 1988 US Olympic high jump team, Trish knows the value of cross training to keep her competitive edge. Now that Trish is in the height of her training season, she is working with Aline Alexander, owner of Momentum Studio, twice a week as a part of her training program. “My body loves all the different movements we do,” Trish describes her workouts at Momentum. “It is very different than anything else I have ever done. The concept makes sense. I especially like it because I have been in the same sport for a long time so it’s very beneficial to incorporate because of all the different movements you do. I also figure it will help me prevent future injuries.” Trish originally came to Momentum because of a recommendation by her Rolfer. “I could benefit from the cross training and I needed it,” Trish continues. “I had some hamstring issues that wouldn’t go away and l thought [it] could help because of all the rotation, opening of the joints and lengthening of the muscles it provides. I needed a change.”
